The California Energy Commission (CEC) expects to receive up to $300 million of funding from the Obama administration’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and it has set up a portion of the CEC website to track what the state does with the monies, it said Tuesday. CEC staff’s initial review of ARRA’s nearly $800 billion has looked at a $37 billion portion earmarked for energy efficiency, renewables and other clean energy initiatives.

FERC Unveils Web-Based ‘Living State of the Market Report’
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Thursday unveiled new detailed energy market statistics pages on its website that were produced by its Energy Market Oversight (EMO) division. The pages display charts and graphs of current market fundamentals and detailed regional statistics on natural gas and power supply, demand, flows, gas storage and prices.

Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham announced this week that the Department of Energy (DOE) will award $89.4 million to 19 states to weatherize the homes of low-income families to save energy as the nation faces a potential natural gas supply shortfall in the months ahead.
