New Pipeline to Connect Eagle Ford Rich Gas to Processing

Dallas-based Southcross Energy Partners LP has begun construction of a 94-mile, 24-inch diameter pipeline in the rich gas area of the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas. The Webb Pipeline is expected to have initial uncompressed capacity of 300 MMcf/d.

NuStar Crude Oil Pipeline LP is holding a binding open season through Aug. 30 for capacity to transport Eagle Ford Shale crude oil from several terminal locations on its South Texas Crude Oil Pipeline System in Frio, McMullen, and La Salle counties, TX, to its Corpus Christi, TX, North Beach facility. The proposed South Texas System Project would include pipeline capacity upgrades to the segments of the South Texas System between NuStar’s Gardendale Terminal in La Salle County and NuStar’s Corpus Christi Terminal in Nueces County, TX, and would be constructed in two phases. The first phase would add incremental capacity to the South Texas System of 35,000 b/d; the second phase would add incremental capacity to the South Texas System of 65,000 b/d. Eagle Ford, Permian Counties Lifted Texas Production in April

According to the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC), the state’s preliminary April crude oil production averaged 1.6 million b/d, up from nearly 1.2 million b/d in April 2012. The preliminary production figure for April is 48.2 million bbl, up from 35.9 million bbl in April 2012.

Plains All American Pipeline LP (PAA) has agreed to pay Chesapeake Energy Corp. $125 million for crude oil and condensate gathering assets in the Eagle Ford Shale. The acquired assets are complementary to and would be connected with PAA’s existing crude oil and condensate gathering systems. Included in the purchase are 40 miles of crude oil/condensate gathering pipelines with a throughput capacity of 50,000 b/d; 150,000 bbl of existing crude oil and condensate storage capacity; 300,000 bbl of storage capacity under construction; and a truck unloading terminal. Chesapeake agreed to provide long-term acreage dedications of future production from its South Texas leasehold in Webb and Dimmit counties.

The San Antonio, TX, metropolitan area has gained about 4,000 jobs from the Eagle Ford shale Play, and its upcoming major road improvements could tap up to $12 million annually from the oil/gas development, according to a report released Tuesday by the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation.
