El Paso warned Saturday of potential high-linepack conditions on its system and said its Washington Ranch storage facility was at maximum injections. If the situation failed to improve, El Paso said, declaration of a Pack Strained Operating Condition (SOC) would be required. However, it canceled the SOC warning Monday, citing improved conditions.

Transportation Notes

As it had warned might be necessary, Florida Gas Transmission (FGT) issued an Overage Alert Day for market-area customers Tuesday, citing forecasts for temperatures in the mid to upper 90s in Florida. The tolerance for negative daily imbalances was set at 10%. FGT said it would not interrupt previously scheduled market-area ITS-1 service for Tuesday’s gas day.

WSI: Northeast to Get a Reprieve From Summer Heat

With June rapidly coming to a close minus excessive heat in most regions of the country, WSI Corp. warned Monday that the July through September time frame might require a little more air conditioning for most parts of the country, Referencing a 30-year normal standard from 1971 to 2000, the Andover, MA-based forecaster said it expects the period to average warmer than normal in all locations except for the Pacific coastal cities, parts of Texas, and the extreme northern tier of states.

Chevron Says U.S. Gas Output Down, Warns Prices to Affect 4Q Results

Chevron Corp. late Tuesday warned that its 4Q2006 results will be adversely impacted by lower commodity prices and lower downstream margins. The second-largest U.S. major reported that in the first two months of the final quarter, U.S. liquids and natural gas production fell nearly 1% sequentially from 3Q2006, and international liquids and gas production was off more than 3%.

Nabors Issues Earnings Warning on Weak Gas Operations in North America

Nabors Industries Ltd., the world’s largest land-based driller, warned last week that its 4Q2006 earnings will fall well short of Wall Street estimates on weaker-than-expected natural gas operations in the Lower 48 states and Canada.
