Ethane Cracker Bill Advances in West Virginia

Legislators in the West Virginia House of Delegates on Monday overwhelmingly passed a bill designed to entice companies to build an ethane cracker in the state by slashing the facility’s property taxes for its first 25 years.

1,600 Virginians Without Heat after Line Explodes

United Cities Gas Co.’s two-inch diameter, 7.2 MMcf per hour gasline that connects with a town border station in Wytheville, VAexploded Sunday morning, destroying a house and business. No onewas killed in the accident, but 1,600 residents of Wytheville hadtheir heat cut off and some have not had it restored. The cause ofthe fire is still under investigation.

Gas Choice Coming to 31,000 Virginians

Washington Gas soon will notify its northern Virginia customersof its customer choice pilot. Customers will have the option tochoose from a list of gas suppliers whose names and phone numberswill be included in an October bill insert. A series of communityeducation meetings is planned.
