Despite negative guidance coming from the screen’s 12.8-cent decline in December natural gas futures Friday, a vast majority of cash points traded Monday for Tuesday delivery moved higher — from a few cents to just more than a dime.

Feeding off of the new 12-month low recorded in front-month natural gas futures on Friday, the cash market responded on Monday by falling at a vast majority of points across the nation. While most cash averages declined by less than a dime, a couple of gains in the nickel to dime range were sprinkled across the country, especially in the East.

Out West the tune was a little different as most points gained at least a nickel as the region faced some of the warmest temperatures it has seen all summer.

With support from the rally late last week in natural gas futures prices, a vast majority of cash market points on Monday followed suit, gaining a few pennies to as much as 30 cents. Sizzling record-setting temperatures in the West led to some of the largest gains, but air-conditioning load wasn’t yet playing much of a role according to traders.
