Upon urgings from its staff, the Georgia Public Service Commission (GPSC) voted unanimously on Tuesday to establish a schedule of hearings regarding an earnings review for Atlanta Gas Light Co. (AGLC), which the Commission staff said is earning between 4% and 7% more than its authorized return on equity (ROE).

AGL Cries Foul in GPSC Earnings Review

Chevron Begins Gulf Production at Typhoon
Chevron U.S.A. Production Co. reported that oil and gas production began July 29 at its most recent deepwater Gulf of Mexico prospect. Depending upon well performance, production from the Typhoon field is expected to reach about 40,000 b/d of crude oil and about 60 MMcf/d during the fourth quarter 2001. Chevron estimates the commercial life of the Typhoon field to be five to eight years.
Rudden: LNG, Storage Could Alleviate Transmission Problems
New or existing gas storage and liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities should be relied upon much more by the power industry to alleviate existing and future power transmission problems, according to a new report by consulting firm R.J. Rudden Associates. The regional transmission organization (RTO) process is going much slower than anticipated and alternatives to transmission need to be developed, said J.R. Crespo, managing director at R.J. Rudden.
