Transportation Notes

Rockies Express (REX) said an outage of one unit at Bertrand Compressor Station experienced Thursday kept it unavailable Friday although repair crews worked on resolving the issue. However, at the current level of scheduled quantities (both Intraday 1 and Timely) through Segment 250, scheduling reductions were not necessary Friday, REX said, but if nominations increase for future cycles, a force majeure may be required.

If Ordered By Congress, Interior Secretary Says Leasing in 181 Region Could Begin in 2006

If ordered by Congress to do so, the Interior Department could hold a lease sale in currently unavailable parts of the gas-rich eastern Gulf of Mexico as early as 2006, Secretary Gale Norton told a Senate panel Thursday.

Transportation Notes

As a result of further investigations at individual production platforms, Trunkline said Thursday it has added receipt points to a list of those unavailable for nomination due to operational issues on the particular platform (see bulletin board for details). As these issues are resolved, the points will be removed from the list, it said. Field personnel have partially completed pressure testing of the line east of Trunkline’s T-25 platform at Ship Shoal 139. The remaining sections to be testted are the legs east of T-22 at South Timbalier 175 and the 319B-4400 line between T-21 and T-22. All other Terrebonne System sections have sucessfully passed the pressure tests, Trunkline said.

MMS Sees Izzy & Lili Taking at Least 60 Bcf off the Market; Thursday’s Shut-ins at 9.7 Bcf

Nearly 60 Bcf of natural gas and 10 million barrels of oil have been unavailable from the Outer Continental Shelf in the Gulf of Mexico for U.S. consumption because of shut-ins due to Hurricanes Isidore and Lili, the Minerals Management Service (MMS) said Thursday.

Reliant declared force majeure Thursday, saying the #1 unit at its Malvern (AR) Compressor Station will be unavailable for an estimated four to five months due to an unscheduled overhaul. At present the pipeline expects this outage to have “very limited impact to capacity,” but as traditional cooling load increases this summer, it may have to limit IT, Authorized Overrun Service and secondary capacity in the Quadrangle System and on Line AC.

Worklasting about 30 days began Tuesday on a unit at the Montpelier(LA) Station, cutting capacity on the 30-inch Kosciusko Line fromMontpelier by 50 MMcf/d.
