Audi to Pursue Hydrogen, Synthetic Gas for Vehicles

Audi AG held a topping-out ceremony recently for a new plant in Germany that will be the world’s first manufacturing facility for producing synthetic methane, or “e-gas,” along with renewable electricity. The facility is scheduled to begin operations early in 2013 and begin feeding e-gas into the local natural gas distribution network by summer.

FERC: Pipe Construction Exceeds Last Year; Storage Lags

Topping FERC’s list of pipeline projects that went into service in October were National Fuel Gas Supply’s and Tennessee Gas Pipeline’s Marcellus Shale-related expansions. A new lateral in Illinois also was placed into service, and two expansion projects were approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, according to the latest energy infrastructure update.

The tug-of-war being played out for Southern Union Co. continued on Tuesday with Energy Transfer Equity LP (ETE) topping by 25 cents a $44/share offer by Williams. The $9.4 billion bid is the second time ETE has countered Williams’ offers for the Houston-based gas pipeline company.
