Magnum Hunter CEO Predicts ‘Exceptional’ Reserves Growth

Shale player Magnum Hunter Resources Corp. grew its total proved reserves by 116% last year, and the value of reserves grew 171% from the year-ago period, the Houston-based company said Tuesday. And there will be more growth like that this year if the company’s CEO is correct.

Wabash Gas Storage LLC said a recent open season garnered bids for more than three times the capacity of its 12-14 Bcf storage facility under development in eastern Illinois near Midwestern Gas Transmission Co. pipeline’s Paris compressor station (see Daily GPI, Nov. 16). Injection and withdrawal capacity of the facility is estimated at 200,000 MMBtu/d. Wabash also received expressions of interest in having the storage project interconnect with the Rockies Express and Panhandle Eastern pipeline systems.

EOG Triples Potential Gas Reserves in Haynesville/Bossier Play

EOG Resources Inc.’s potential natural reserves in the Haynesville/Bossier play now are estimated at 10 Tcf — three times the initial assessment of 3 Tcf — and its holdings in British Columbia’s Horn River Basin may hold 9 Tcf, well above an initial estimate of 6 Tcf, CEO Mark Papa said last week.
