Performance-Based Rates Approved for SDG&E

With the advent of ending its electricity rate freeze thissummer and moving to a more volatile pricing environment, San DiegoGas and Electric Co. was given a new incentive rate mechanism todetermine its future utility revenue needs by California regulatorslast week. Current rates will not change because of the new”performance-based ratemaking” (PBR) system, but the system will beused the next time the regulators review SDG&E’s performance.

Florida Gas Transmission reported completion of lowering its30-inch mainline at Station 7.5 in South Louisiana ahead ofschedule and has commenced lowering the 24-inch mainline. This workis expected to limit St. Landry volumes to 910 MMcf/d-65 MMcf/dbelow maximum-through April 10.

Exxon Reserve Growth Surpasses Production

Exxon worldwide additions to proved oil and gas reserves totaled1.1 billion oil-equivalent barrels in 1998, replacing 106% ofproduction. “This year’s strong performance is the fifth year in arow that we’ve exceeded 100% replacement,” said Chairman LeeRaymond. “Over the last 10 years, we’ve added nearly 11 billionoil-equivalent barrels to proved reserves, more than replacingreserves produced. Long-term reserves portfolio management anddevelopment is a key area of emphasis in our business.”
