Transwestern said Sunday it declared force majeure after experiencing a mechanical failure on Unit #1 at Crawford Compressor Station on the West Texas Lateral. Station capacity was reduced to about 32,000 MMBtu/d from the normal 60,000 MMBtu/d until the unit can be replaced. A replacement compressor will be available for service Thursday, Transwestern said, adding that it is working with customers to reroute affected gas to other receipt points.

Southern Union Sells PA LDC, Moves to Houston, Furthers Pipeline, Midstream Role

The Sid Richardson purchase includes 4,000 miles of natural gas and gas liquids pipe in the Permian Basin in West Texas and New Mexico, about 450 MMcf/d of cryogenic processing capacity among six interconnected plants, 930 MMcf/d of high-pressure treating capacity and a gas liquids and gas marketing operation based in Houston and Fort Worth.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas on Thursday filed a motion to dismiss charges against a former Duke Energy North America LLC (DENA) trading executive whose case ended in a mistrial in December (see Daily GPI, Dec. 7, 2005).

Judge Orders $20M in Enron Bonuses Returned

A Texas bankruptcy judge has ordered nearly 40 former Enron Corp. energy traders to return $20 million in bonuses, money distributed just days before the company declared bankruptcy in December 2001. Barring appeals, the monies will be disbursed to about 4,500 other ex-employees who were fired.

CrossTex, MarkWest Complete Acquisition of Midstream Assets

El Paso Corp. on Wednesday completed the sale of its interests in two separate sets of midstream assets located in Louisiana and Texas for a total of $642 million, while Kerr-McGee Corp. sold its 40% stake in one of the plants for $156 million.

FERC Approves Project Connecting Transco, FGT Systems in Texas

FERC on Thursday issued a certificate to Dominion South Pipeline Co. LP., a new subsidiary of Dominion Resources, approving the construction of a small pipeline in Texas that would connect the mainline system of Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line with Florida Gas Transmission (FGT).

Tennessee Gas Pipeline warned that it may have to issue an operational flow order due to limited operational flexibility in the Texas (Zone 0) area. the pipeline said it does not have the ability to absorb imbalances caused by overdeliveries into the system and/or undertakes from the system with meters located in Zone 0. It requested that all LMSMA, LMSPL, and LMSPA contracts (including SA contracts acting as balancing parties) in Zone 0 match physical flow with scheduled quantities. “Tennessee requires your compliance with this notice to avoid the necessity of issuing an Operational Flow Order in accordance with the applicable tariff provisions,” the company said.

SEC Begins Formal Inquiry in Cheniere, Chevron Deals

Houston-based Cheniere Energy Inc., which is developing several liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals along the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana, said Thursday that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has begun a formal investigation into some agreements the company signed last year with Chevron USA.
