Eureka! Exxon Hits Record Gas Well in AL
Exxon has blown away previous production test records for gaswells in the Gulf of Mexico and the state of Alabama. The companyannounced yesterday that it tested a well in Mobile Bay about 2.5miles offshore south of Dauphin Island at 126 MMcf/d. The previousrecord in Alabama state waters was 91 MMcf/d. The well also testedat a higher open flow rate than any well in the federal OuterContinental Shelf area of the Gulf. The OCS record was 113 MMcf/d.
Coastal Plans to Test Waters Early for Gulfstream
With the Independence Pipeline project continuing its strugglethrough the landowner gauntlet in the Midwest and through thelonger-than-average regulatory review at FERC, Coastal Corp. isattempting a different approach for its proposed Gulfstream NaturalGas System in the Gulf of Mexico and Florida. The company plans toget the word out early and claims its wants as much public input aspossible prior to filing an application with FERC this fall. It hasdrawn a preliminary pipeline route on a map and scheduled severalopen houses to discuss the project with landowners, localofficials, regulators and anyone else who’s interested.
Nipsco: Interest in Crossroads More than Expected
Crossroads Pipeline Co., a subsidiary of Nipsco Industries, saidThursday its open season to test shipper interest in the CrossroadsPipeline expansion exceeded the company’s expectations. Companiesexpressed interest in over 600,000 Dth/d for the proposedinterconnect. The open season for the Crossroads expansion beganFebruary 16 and ended March 31.
