Ormat Sells Gas Line Waste Heat Power to Co-op

Reno, NV-based Ormat Technologies Inc. signed a 20-year deal with cooperative utility Highline Electric Association to provide it with 4 MW of power produced from recovered heat from a natural gas pipeline, the company said Monday. Highline serves customers in Colorado and Nebraska.

Ormat Inks 4 Deals for Power from Pipeline Compressor Waste Heat

Ormat Technologies announced Monday that it has exercised some previously announced options completing four 25-year purchased power agreements with Bismarck, ND-based Basin Electric Power Cooperative for small amounts of electricity that will be generated with some of Ormat’s recovered energy generation equipment on natural gas transmission pipeline compressors. Collectively, the deals amount to 22 MW and will be phased in over the next two years.

Ormat Signs DOE R&D Agreement for Oilfield Power

Reno, NV-based geothermal power company Ormat Technologies Inc. said last week that it signed a shared-cost agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to validate its proven geothermal power production system’s applicability to using the hot water produced as an offshoot of oilfield production. DOE and Ormat will conduct the research and development work at the DOE’s Rocky Mountain Oil Test Center near Casper, WY.
