Eagle Ford, Permian Counties Lifted Texas Production in April

According to the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC), the state’s preliminary April crude oil production averaged 1.6 million b/d, up from nearly 1.2 million b/d in April 2012. The preliminary production figure for April is 48.2 million bbl, up from 35.9 million bbl in April 2012.

Range Resources Wants Payback for Texas Well Case

Range Resources Corp. has gone on the offensive in its battle with a North Texas landowner and a controversial environmental consultant widely believed to have an anti-gas industry agenda. In its response to a lawsuit over alleged water well contamination, the company said it wants to be compensated for millions of dollars in damages caused by false allegations.

Houston-based Carrizo Oil & Gas Inc. has completed the sale of its Mansfield natural gas pipeline and gathering system in Tarrant County, TX, to Delphi Midstream Partners LLC for $34.7 million net. The transaction includes a working capital adjustment of around $1.2 million. The 19-mile system, constructed by Carrizo to gather and transport gas from the company’s Barnett Shale operating area, has a current maximum takeaway capacity of 70 MMcf/d. Also included in the system is an associated compression/dehydration facility. In the month preceding the transaction’s close, Carrizo said the pipeline transported on average 55 MMcf/d. Carrizo agreed to continue to operate the system on Delphi’s behalf. Net proceeds will be used by Carrizo to pay down debt.

Chesapeake Buying a Money Maker in the Barnett Shale

Chesapeake Energy Corp. is picking up 39,000 net acres of Barnett Shale leasehold in Johnson and Tarrant counties, Texas, 30 MMcfe/d of current production and $55 million worth of midstream assets in an $845 million cash deal with Four Sevens Oil Co. Ltd. and its partner Sinclair Oil Corp. Chesapeake also is spending $87 million to buy 28,000 net acres of leasehold in the same area from other sellers.

Transportation Notes

Sonat reported Wednesday experiencing an unscheduled outage of the Tarrant Compressor Station in Birmingham, AL, due to flooding. No interruption to firm service was expected, but Sonat said it might not be able to accept all nominations for interruptible service (B-1 and IT) on the North System in Zones 2 and 3 until further notice.
