Power generation will continue to grow in importance to the natural gas market. Reliably connecting gas supply to power plants in the years ahead will take more than synchronizing the gas and power days; a capital-intensive infrastructure buildout is necessary, as is new thinking on the part of pipelines, industry executives said in Houston last Thursday.

Before that, he also served as CFO at PostRock Energy Corp. (2009-2010), Ascent Energy Co. (2003-2007), Range Resources Corp. (2000-2003), and Coho Energy Inc. (1995-1999). He has a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is a certified public accountant and chartered financial analyst. LeBlanc is moving into the office formerly occupied by James D. Bennett, who recently was named CEO (see Daily GPI, June 20). Bennett began as SandRidge’s CFO in January 2011 and he was named president in March.

Jeff Shellebarger, 56, will take over as president of Chevron Corp. subsidiary Chevron North America Exploration and Production Co. on Aug. 1. Gary Luquette has helmed the unit since 2006, but he is retiring after 35 years. To help with the transition, Luquette plans to remain at Chevron until Sept. 1. Shellebarger joined Chevron in 1980 and now manages the IndoAsia business unit. As president of North America operations, Shellebarger would oversee exploration and production activity across all of the producer’s assets in the United States and Canada.
