Millennium Marcellus Expansion Stalled at FERC

Millennium Pipeline Co. LLC and sponsors of its proposed natural gas compressor station project in Minisink, NY, which would boost the company’s firm deliveries of Marcellus Shale gas to about 675,000 Dth/d to serve the Northeast and New England markets, continue to await FERC’s final decision on the application, originally filed almost a year ago.

NiSource Gas Transmission & Storage unit Columbia Gas Transmission is seeking to sell or lease the Greenwood and North Greenwood storage fields in Steuben County, NY. The fields consist of approximately 6,700 acres, including nine storage wells, approximately three miles of storage pipeline and a 1,000 hp compressor station. Of the nine storage wells, four have active injection and withdrawal capabilities and one is an underground injection control injection well. Interested parties may send inquires to dataroom@nisource.com. A data room will be accessible Oct. 1-31. All bids are due by Nov. 1. The process is nonbinding and NiSource reserves the right to take no action.

NYPSC to Hold Public Meetings on Utility’s Inadequate Winter Preparations

The New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold a series of public forums Nov. 14, 15 and 16 in Steuben County to explain recent actions regarding Corning Natural Gas Corp.’s inadequate preparations for the winter heating season. Two weeks ago the commission called on other state gas utilities to provide supply to Corning on a mutual-aid assistance basis, and ordered the small investor-owned utility to show cause why a temporary operator should not be appointed for it (see Daily GPI, Oct. 28).

Kaiser-Francis Joins SemGas in Development of High-Deliverability Storage in NY

Tulsa-based Kaiser-Francis Oil Co. has joined SemGas L.P. as a partner in construction of the high-deliverability 6 Bcf Wyckoff Gas Storage project in Steuben County, NY. The companies said Kaiser-Francis purchased 49% stake in Wyckoff, which SemGas purchased from Falcon Storage earlier this year (see Daily GPI, Jan. 24). The storage project already has a FERC certificate.
