Several of the largest fueling equipment suppliers in the natural gas vehicle (NGV) industry marked milestones this month, underscoring the fact that natural gas as a transportation fuel is still in its infancy.

Northern Natural plans to construct and operate 7.8 miles of 20-inch diameter pipeline from its Rosemont Junction in Rosemont, MN, to the Cedar Station Meter Station in Eagan, which would allow it to increase pressure at the Cedar Station to 650 psig from 400 psig. The project would accommodate a contractual obligation to meet a delivery pressure for Northern States Power Co.’s Black Dog Generating Station, according to Northern Natural.

Oklahoma City-based Love’s Travel Stops plans to purchase Chicago-based compressed natural gas (CNG) provider Trillium CNG from WEC Energy Group, adding 37 public-access CNG locations to its natural gas vehicle (NGV) fueling network.

Compressed natural gas (CNG) interests have made recent advancements in fueling as well as engine technology.
