More efficient development plans, speedier drilling completions and falling service costs pushed EnCana Corp.’s natural gas production to strong gains in 2Q2007, with output in six of its nine North American gas resource plays showing double-digit growth led by the Deep Bossier at 49%, Cutbank Ridge 31%, and the Jonah Field 16%.

EIA Projects Speedier Recovery of Gulf Gas Infrastructure

The Energy Information Administration in its Short-Term Energy Outlook for December projects a speedier recovery for hurricane-impaired Gulf of Mexico natural gas infrastructure, citing the innovative methods producers are employing to reroute their gas around damaged pipelines to reach working processing plants.

DOE Urges Speedier Pipe Certificate Process

Recognizing the inevitability of heightened gas demand from theNortheast generation market over the next 20 years, a Department ofEnergy (DOE) study released last week calls for an acceleration ofthe FERC certificate process to pave the way for more gas pipelineand storage capacity to the region to help reduce its singulardependence on home heating oil and to avoid recurrences of lastwinter’s heating oil price spikes.
