In his long-awaited $3.77 trillion budget for fiscal year (FY) 2014 unveiled last Wednesday and forwarded to Congress, President Obama again sought to repeal tax breaks for oil and natural gas producers. He also proposed tacking on new fees and increasing oil and gas royalties to fund renewable fuel development, as well as elevating spending for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Pangea Enters Gulf Coast LNG Export Fray

Pangea LNG (North America) Holdings LLC on Thursday sought liquefied natural gas (LNG) export authority for its planned facility on Corpus Christi Bay in South Texas. The company filed an application with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) seeking authority to export up to 8 million metric tons per year (398.5 Bcf/year) of LNG to all current and future countries with which the U.S. has a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The authority to export would be for a 25-year term.

Tennessee Seeks to Place Entire Northeast Project in Service

Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. Monday sought authorization to place the remaining portion of its Northeast Supply Diversification (NSD) Project in service on Nov. 1. The request came only days after the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the start-up of a portion of the NSD facilities to provide service to three shippers beginning Oct. 1 (see Shale Daily, Sept. 24).
