Davis Goes to White House; Focus Shifts to Political Arena

California’s governor met with President Clinton in the WhiteHouse Wednesday and came away with an extension of the federalenergy secretary’s emergency order for another week, assuring thestate it can count on extra electricity supplies when needed. Thestate’s independent grid operator indicated it has been receivingabout 300 MW of power under the emergency mandate over the past twoweeks.

Coral Finds New Identity, Shifts Personnel

It’s about time everyone realized Coral Energy is a Shellaffiliate. The company initiated a corporate identity and brandingprogram yesterday supported by direct mail, Web-basedcommunications and advertisements in the Wall Street Journal, theHouston Chronicle and some trade magazines. It also has adopted anew logo design to signify its expanded commercial business andtransition from a joint venture company to a 100% affiliate ofShell’s global natural gas and power business. The logo nowincludes the Shell logo and says Coral is an affiliate of Shell.

Dynegy Shifts Capacity Holdings on El Paso

Adding to the lengthy and often heated controversy surrounding its contractual relationship with El Paso Natural Gas, Dynegy has signed a fourth contract with El Paso covering 196 MMcf/d of alternate firm backhaul capacity on the southwestern pipeline.
