Marcellus Water Contamination Notification Policy Disputed

A coalition of 14 environmental groups has asked Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett to reverse a Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) policy that requires field offices to advise senior DEP officials of their intent to acknowledge water contamination related to Marcellus Shale gas well operations before notification letters are sent to potentially affected homeowners.

In the article “XTO, MarkWest Execs Tout Shale Success, Push Public Interaction, LNG Exports” (see Shale Daily, Sept. 21), NGI’s Shale Daily incorrectly stated that the Golden Pass liquefied natural gas terminal project is being developed by Cheniere Energy Inc. The Golden Pass Products liquefaction expansion project is a partnership of affiliates of Qatar Petroleum International (70% ownership) and ExxonMobil Corp. (30%). NGI’s Shale Daily regrets the error.

FERC OKS Interim Service on Tennessee Marcellus Project

Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. got the go-ahead from FERC Thursday to start up facilities that will enable it to provide interim firm transportation service to three shippers on its Northeast Supply Diversification (NSD) Project beginning Oct. 1, one month ahead of the in-service date for the entire project.

Eaglebine Purchase, IPO Planned by Texas Producer

Energy & Exploration Partners Inc. on Monday said in a filing with U.S. regulators that it intended to raise up to $275 million through an initial public offering (IPO) of its common stock. In conjunction with the filing, the producer said it had agreed to buy acreage in the Eaglebine formation of Texas from Chesapeake Energy Corp. for $125 million.
