New York Regulators: No ‘Emergency’ Rate Relief for NYSEG, RG&E

New York State Electric & Gas Corp. (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric Corp. (RG&E) Tuesday were denied rate hikes by the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) on the recommendation of commission staff.

Honeoye Storage Corp. announced Tuesday the availability of 300,000 Dth of firm storage service at its Ontario County, NY facility, approximately 30 miles south of Rochester. The service is being offered at market-based rates under its Section 284 Firm Storage Service (FSS) Tariff. The company noted that the firm storage capacity is being offered with specific storage capacities and injection/withdrawal limitations. Requests for service may be for all or part of this available capacity. Storage services are available for injection commencing on April 29 at Honeoye’s interconnection with Tennessee Gas Pipeline in Ontario County. Offers will be accepted until 9:30 a.m. (EDT) on Friday. Offers are to be made for service beginning April 29, 2006 and ending May 31, 2007. Bulk of NYSEG, RG&E Customers Pick Utility Power Choice Options

A total of 426,000 NYSEG and Rochester Gas & Electric (RG&E) electricity customers made an electricity supply choice during an October-through-December enrollment period, the two Energy East Corp. subsidiaries said last Monday, with the bulk of the customers picking power supply plans sponsored by NYSEG and RG&E.

Energy East Completes Upstate NY Utility Merger with RGS

Energy East Corp. completed its $1.4 billion merger with RGS Energy Group Inc., the parent company of Upstate New York utility Rochester Gas and Electric Corp. Energy East becomes one of the largest energy providers in the Northeast with nearly three million customers, including 1.8 million electricity customers, one million natural gas customers and 200,000 other retail energy customers. Together, RG&E and Energy East subsidiary New York State Electric and Gas serve half of Upstate New York. Energy East now will have annual revenues of $5 billion and more than $10 billion in assets.
