Majors Protest Sea Robin’s Escalating Pipeline Rates

A group of producers has filed at FERC a protest to Sea Robin Pipeline Co.’s proposed rate increase, calling the request for increases of as much as 1,450% for gathering service — prompted, in large part, by declining gas receipts — “excessive.”

Sea Robin Pipeline said Wednesday it had completed unscheduled maintenance and repairs that had begun at the end of March between South Marsh Island 33 and Vermilion 149. Nominations were allowed to resume at three meters required to shut in by the work.

Sea Robin Pipeline said it began unscheduled maintenance and repairs Tuesday from South Marsh Island 33 to Vermilion 149. The work is expected to last six to eight days and requires the shut-in of the South Marsh Island 40, Vermilion 175 and Vermilion 171 meters.

Sea Robin said divers are investigating a reported leak on the “J” leg part of its offshore Louisiana system near Eugene Island Block 295, requiring the leg to be removed from service. The pipeline ceased accepting nominations at affected points Tuesday until further notice.
