Environmental Groups Allege FERC Bias, Call For GAO Probe

A coalition of 165 environmental groups, led by the Delaware Riverkeeper Network, have asked Sens. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) to launch an investigation into FERC, alleging that the commission is biased toward pipeline companies.

Pennsylvania Supreme Court Quashes PUC Appeal on Act 13

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court quashed an appeal by the state Public Utility Commission (PUC) on Thursday, leaving in place a judge’s order that the commission cannot use a review process to enforce some provisions of Act 13, the state’s omnibus Marcellus Shale law.

Environmentalists Push for Fracking Ban in New York

A group of more than 40 environmental organizations, including the National Resources Defense Council, Delaware Riverkeeper Network and the Atlantic Chapter of the Sierra Club, is calling on the New York State Assembly to approve legislation that would place a moratorium on hydraulic fracturing (fracking) in the state’s Marcellus and Utica shales until May 15, which is when further environmental studies by the Environmental Protection Agency are expected to be completed.

Northwest Energy Coalition Criticizes Environmental Group

A business-labor coalition in the Pacific Northwest is lashing out at environmental organization Columbia Riverkeeper (CRK) for allegedly working covertly in a recent anti-liquefied natural gas (LNG) local election. CRK’s work supposedly led to the narrow recall of one of five members of the Clatsop County (OR) Commission, a majority of which has supported building an LNG receiving terminal along the Columbia River.
