The West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals has ruled that state law doesn’t give landowners the right to seek judicial review of well permits issued by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). However, the appeals court urged lawmakers to consider changing the law to give landowners more say.

Sempra LNG Gets Reprieve From Mexican Appellate Court
San Diego-based Sempra Energy’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) unit reported late Monday that a Mexican federal appeals court has revoked a June 17 district court order directing Mexican regulatory agencies to suspend Sempra’s authorizations for operating the Energia Costa Azul LNG receiving terminal north of Ensenada along the Pacific Coast of North Baja California. Another hearing in the long-running dispute is set for July 6.

FERC OKs Western Gaming Settlements Reached Between Staff, Power Firms
FERC last Thursday approved a series of settlement agreements previously hammered out between Commission staff and four power companies, as well as a city in California, resolving allegations that the power-related entities tried to game California’s electricity market in 2000-2001. Under the settlements, the power companies and the California city will pay a total of $141,834.
