Weaver’s Cove Seeks FERC Go-Ahead to Build Offshore LNG Berth

In an amended application filed with FERC this week, Weaver’s Cove Energy is seeking to revise its agency-approved liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal project by constructing a berth for tankers one mile offshore Mount Hope Bay and underwater pipeline facilities to unload and deliver LNG to the proposed terminal site at Fall River, MA.

EnCana Downplays Bossier Buyout; Panuke Moves Forward

Calgary-based EnCana Corp.’s decision to build its natural gas reserves in East Texas is unrelated to Alberta’s decision to revise the oil and gas royalty regime, the CEO said last week (see related story). However, EnCana CEO Randy Eresman said the Deep Bossier acquisition may affect the company’s spending plans and lead to possible divestitures in 2008.

More Protections Sought for Storage Customers in Final Rule

A group of natural gas producers, municipal gas distributors and industrial customers has called on FERC to revise its final rule reforming the agency’s storage pricing policies to include more protections for customers. Separately the American Gas Association (AGA), which represents local distribution companies (LDCs), asked the agency to consider a less liberal storage policy in the rule.
