MarkWest Hydrocarbon executed agreements with Equitable Production that restructures their processing relationship in Appalachia. The new agreements provide Equitable with additional flexibility in its gathering operations upstream of the MarkWest Energy Partners LP processing facilities, and provide Equitable with assurances of continued processing capacity and operations. The new agreements also protect MarkWest Hydrocarbon during periods of low processing margins. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mexico’s state-owned oil and natural gas monopoly plans to cut 3,000-5,000 jobs as it restructures this year, according to Energy Minister Felipe Calderon. The job cuts follow news from Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) earlier this month that it lost $89 million in the first quarter.

Dynegy CEO Sees Solid Performance as Company Restructures

Following a near-fatal collapse two years ago, Dynegy Inc. has been shedding assets and restructuring, and the lost business was evident in the company’s first quarter report last week. Its smaller power generation business was off 35% from a year ago, and the discontinued energy risk management unit also reported huge losses.

Following on the heels of its merger with El Paso Corp.’s GulfTerra Energy Partners LLP last month, Enterprise Products Partners LP announced last week it is restructuring its board of directors so that most of the general partner’s directors are independent. Enterprise merged with GulfTerra, El Paso Corp.’s energy partnership, in mid-December (see Daily GPI, Dec. 16, 2003).
