A large coalition of public health and environmental groups has launched a campaign to regulate chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing (fracking) and other exploration and production (E&P) processes at the source, petitioning the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to require disclosure from chemical manufacturers and processors.

One day after Shell Oil Co. launched a public relations campaign to showcase its onshore natural gas drilling efforts, ExxonMobil Corp. on Thursday unveiled a website to “give context to the growth of natural gas resources in the United States.”

The CEO of Continental Resources Inc. last week said he’s gotten “a lot of support” from fellow producers since his company asked Oklahoma regulators to reduce natural gas output levels. “Nobody wants to waste a valuable resource,” Harold Hamm told NGI.

Refusing to go down without a fight, Salt Lake City-based Questar Corp. said Sunday that it would pursue available legal and regulatory alternatives in response to a Utah Supreme Court decision on Aug. 1, which rejected the recovery of certain natural gas-processing costs incurred by its retail natural gas distribution subsidiary Questar Gas Co.
