No Quick Replacement Seen for Wyoming Oil/Gas Head

There will be no quick replacement for Tom Doll, who resigned as Wyoming Oil and Gas Supervisor suddenly last week (see Shale Daily, June 18), according to a spokesperson for Gov. Matt Mead. The governor and the state’s Oil and Gas Conservation Commission are working out the details of the search for a replacement, the spokesperson told NGI’s Shale Daily.

Wyoming Oil/Gas Head Resigns After Run-In with Governor

Wyoming Oil and Gas Supervisor Tom Doll suddenly resigned Thursday, Gov. Matt Mead’s office announced late in the day. The resignation came a little more than a week after Doll publicly lambasted the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its handling of the well water and natural gas drilling case near Pavillion, WY, that has evolved into lingering state-federal issue.

Highbridge Capital Management co-founder Glenn Dubin will continue as co-chairman of LDH, the company said. In addition, Christopher Caperton, managing director and general counsel of the Louis Dreyfus Group, has been appointed to the LDH board of directors. Stamford, CT-based LDH is the merchant energy joint venture of the Louis Dreyfus Group and of the multi-strategy hedge fund of Highbridge Capital Management.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced Wednesday the resignation of Chairman Reuben Jeffery III, effective immediately. Jeffery served as chairman of the CFTC since July 2005. Prior to his appointment by President George W. Bush, he served as special assistant to the president and senior director for international economic affairs at the National Security Council. Jeffery is departing the CFTC for the U.S. Department of State, where he has been nominated and confirmed as under secretary of state for economic, energy and agricultural affairs by Bush and will begin serving in that capacity as of Thursday. To replace Jeffery, the CFTC said it has elected Walter Lukken to serve as acting chairman. Lukken will exercise the executive and administrative functions of the commission until a new chairman has been appointed by Bush and confirmed by the Senate.

El Paso E&P Chief Announces Resignation

Lisa Stewart, who has served as president of El Paso Corp.’s exploration and production (E&P) unit for two and a half years, announced her resignation on Wednesday. Stewart, who will join private equity firm Warburg Pincus later this year, was instrumental in helping turn around the once-ailing E&P unit.
