Bison Pipeline Returns to Partial Service

Bison Pipeline reported that the section of pipe damaged in a July 20 rupture had been repaired, and it was beginning inline inspections Thursday as part of the restoration plan, allowing it to accept up to 200,000 Dth/d of nominations for Friday’s gas day.

PG&E Plans Possible Limited Shutoffs

Limited curtailments this winter, up to 300 new shutoff valves, and new leaks identified and repaired on parts of the major natural gas transmission pipeline system in the greater San Francisco Bay Area were documented in reports released late Monday by Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).

Williams Partners LP announced that the Ignacio gas processing plant had been repaired and returned to service Friday after being shut down due to a pipeline rupture on June 3.

Small Leak Results from Third Attack on EnCana’s BC Facilities

A third attack on EnCana Corp. natural gas facilities in the Dawson Creek, BC, area resulted in a gas leak that was discovered Oct. 31 and repaired shortly after, the company said. The leak, which was sealed the evening of Nov. 2 by cement injection into the well, is in an area where EnCana facilities were targeted by vandals in two incidents last month.

Transportation Notes

NOVA said Friday the NPS 20 Kaybob Lateral had been repaired and was back in service Wednesday after a line break had been discovered nearly two weeks earlier (see Daily GPI, Aug. 14). There was no customer impact associated with the break, NOVA said.

Northwest Expects to Restore Service on Portion of Repaired Pipe

Northwest Pipeline expects to have a 111-mile portion of its idled 26-inch diameter line between Sumas and Washougal, WA, back in service by the end of this month providing an additional 131,000 Dth/d of much needed pipeline capacity. About 268 miles of the 1950s vintage pipeline was taken out of service last year after two ruptures occurred.

A day after confirming that a lateral leak near Matagorda Offshore Pipeline System (MOPS) Platform 703 had been repaired and an outage of the Matagorda 703/704/709 receipt point had ended last Saturday (see Daily GPI, Aug. 7), MOPS operator Northern Natural Gas reported Wednesday that a leak had been detected again on the lateral. Matagorda 703/704/709 was taken to zero flow again, affecting 22,000 MMBtu/d. The expected downtime is unknown, NNG said. NNG owner Dynegy did not respond to an inquiry about whether this was a new leak or a recurrence of the old one.

Florida Gas Transmission said Wednesday morning a small leak in its22-inch mainline in southeastern Texas (see Daily GPI, Oct. 4) had been repaired and the line wasback in service. The pipeline resumed accepting nominations at allpoints in Zone 1 for Wednesday’s Intraday 1 cycle.
