Proposal for Leasing in Gulf, Alaska and Offshore VA Faces Criticism
Interior Secretary Kirk Kempthorne last Monday released the proposed five-year program (2007-2012) that calls for leasing in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, Alaska’s Bristol Bay area and possibly offshore Virginia. Industry and consumer groups said the offshore leasing plan was far short of what is needed to meet increasing natural gas demand.
Skilling Chastised by Judge Who Orders Rehab, Curfew
In Houston on Friday, U.S. District Judge Frances Stacy added restrictions to ex-Enron CEO Jeffrey Skilling’s $5 million bond after an altercation in New York City last month (see Daily GPI, April 13). Stacy told Skilling she will revoke his bond unless he gets both alcohol and mental health treatment, follows a curfew and gets a job or does volunteer work.
