Chevron Corp. subsidiary Chevron Canada Ltd. will acquire a 50% operating interest in the Kitimat, British Columbia (BC), liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project and proposed Pacific Trail Pipeline (PTP), and a 50% interest in 644,000 acres of petroleum and natural gas rights in the Horn River and Liard basins in BC, and be a partner in the project and acreage with Apache Corp., the companies said Monday.

Thursday Futures Price Spike has Some Traders Seeing Red
Some traders are crying foul with regards to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s (CME) electronic Globex trading system following last Thursday morning’s knee-jerk spike in front-month natural gas futures of nearly 75 cents. Some traders complained that their orders were not filled following the Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) storage report release at 10:30 a.m. EDT, which sparked the run-up in prices. The trading exchange said Friday that no glitches were reported on the system.

MCN Moves Closer to Appeasing FTC
With regards to the proposed merger between MCN Energy Group andDTE Energy Co., the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC)approved a special agreement yesterday targeted at resolvingconcerns raised by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Under thespecial agreement, MCN’s natural gas utility, Michigan ConsolidatedGas Co. (MichCon), will be able to sell system capacity to a unitof Exelon.
