ANR said it has begun engine maintenance at the Greenville (MS) Compressor Station, which is reducing total Southeast Mainline capacity by 300 MMcf/d (leaving 985 MMcf/d available) through Monday. Based on current nominations, ANR said, it is anticipated that the reduction may result in the curtailment of Interruptible and Firm Secondary services. ANR also said that due to unplanned line maintenance at South Marsh Island 10, gas upstream of the offshore platform was required to shut in Tuesday and Wednesday. The action affected five meters.

Transportation Notes

Transwestern said Monday it was reducing capacity at the LaPlata Compressor Station to 475,000 MMBtu/d through Tuesday due to a fuel valve malfunction as well as the station operating at less than 100% of capacity and high ambient temperatures. “The high temperatures cause the [compressor] units to slow down during the daylight hours,” Transwestern said. Affected interconnects are Northwest/Ignacio, Williams/Ignacio and BP Florida. Capacity will be restored to the normal 500,000 MMBtu/d Wednesday.

New York Regulators Move Toward ’15 by 15′ Goal

A final generic environmental impact statement for developing and implementing an Energy Portfolio Standard (EPS) — a key step toward New York’s goal of reducing electric usage by 15% of projected levels by 2015 and setting an energy efficiency goal for natural gas — has been accepted by the New York State Public Service Commission (PCS).

ANR began unplanned engine repairs Wednesday at Joliet (IL) Compressor Station, reducing the total NGPL-Joliet Interconnect capacity to 90,000 Dth/d through Jan. 18. Based on current nominations, it is anticipated that the reduction will result in the curtailment of IT and Firm Secondary nominations.

The work is reducing total Southeast Mainline capacity by 300 MMcf/d, leaving 1,100 MMcf/d available. Based on current nominations, it is anticipated that the reduction may result in the curtailment of Interruptible and Firm Secondary services, ANR said.

Transportation Notes

Southern California Gas began maintenance Tuesday on Line 225 that will last through Thursday and is reducing available border delivery capacity at Wheeler Ridge by 780 MMcf/d to 100 MMcf/d. Additionally, storage withdrawal capacity has been reduced by 1 Bcf/d and injection capacity has been cut by 250 MMcf/d at the Honor Ranch facility.

Chicago LDCs Find Conservation Is Popular, Not Universal

Gas customers in metro Chicago and area suburbs both have been reducing the amount of gas they burn through conservation and energy efficiency measures, and the utilities are in the early stages in considering how they might make up for lost volumetric-based revenue.
