Wyoming reported receiving a $10.4 million grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to help support Gov. Matt Mead’s sage grouse protection executive order issued earlier this year. The funding is in addition to $17 million the state has already received for conserving sage grouse from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service. Emphasizing that the program is voluntary, the state head of the implementation team said the USFWS funds will be used to deal with sage grouse habitat fragmentation.

Less than a month after receiving a 3 MW order from a large independent oil and gas company for deployment in the producer’s acreage in the Eagle Ford Shale play in South Texas, Capstone Turbine Corp. said Thursday it has received a follow-on order from the same undisclosed company for six more C1000 Power Packages, accounting for an additional 6 MW.

All the Mexican regulatory authorities that issued permits for the operation of Sempra Energy’s Energia Costa Azul liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal have assured the San Diego-based company they will not revoke the terminal’s operating licenses, according to a Sempra LNG spokesperson. A rescheduled Mexican court hearing Sept. 10 will confirm this, the spokesperson told NGI.

Despite receiving the news that a smaller-than-normal 29 Bcf was injected into underground storage for the week ending July 30, natural gas futures traders took the news in stride as another round of “buy the rumor, sell the fact” unfolded. The September contract closed at $4.598, down 13.9 cents from Wednesday’s close.
