Alaska Republicans said they were ready to “embrace” Sen. Lisa Murkowski as Alaska’s only Republican senator, and they urged her challenger and Tea Party-backed candidate Joe Miller to “end his campaign in a dignified way.” But by late Friday Miller hadn’t conceded defeat, instead filing in federal court for a preliminary injunction to keep the results from being certified.

Senate Banking Committee ranking Republican Richard Shelby of Alabama conceded that his negotiations with Chairman Chris Dodd, D-CT, aimed at getting concessions in advance had failed and released his fellow Republicans to vote their conscience.
