Murkowski Asks House Leaders to Resume Pipeline Talks

Alaska Gov. Frank Murkowski has written state House leaders to pitch for a third special session to ratify his gas pipeline fiscal contract with a trio of producers before he leaves office. The lame duck governor’s chief of staff said earlier this month that he had dropped plans to call for a third special session (see Daily GPI, Sept. 8).

California and Williams Ratify Global Settlement

California’s attorney general announced Friday the state has made final an amended version of its previously announced $417 million settlement with Tulsa-based Williams Companies regarding a renegotiated 10-year power contract that is reduced by $1.4 billion in terms of the state’s obligations.

NARUC Resolution Urges Reinstatement of ROFR Cap

National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners is expected to vote Wednesday to ratify a resolution approved by its gas committee and board of directors earlier in the week, calling on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to reconsider its recent decision removing the five-year cap that limited the length of contract term that an existing shipper must match in order renew an expiring pipeline contract under the right-of-first-refusal (ROFR) process (see Daily GPI, Oct. 31).
