NiSource has named former Vastar CEO William A. (Andy) Lang asthe new president and COO of TPC Corp., which it purchased fromPacifiCorp for $150 million in April. Lang and several other newofficials have been hired to rebuild TPC’s energy marketingoperations and grow its exiting portfolio management business.

Avista Prepares for New Mexico Market Entrance
Avista Power said Tuesday it purchased a 20-acre site inLordsburg, NM from TNP Technologies and plans to put a $70 millionpower plant into service on the acreage by early 2000. The terms ofthe sale were not disclosed. The land contains four oldergenerators, which were in the process of being updated. All permitsand licenses will transfer to Avista Power and the transaction isexpected to close within 60 days.
Reliant Buys Retail Operations of COM/Energy
Reliant Energy, formerly Houston Industries, has purchased theretail gas marketing assets of Commonwealth Energy Systemsubsidiary COM/Energy Marketing for an undisclosed sum. The assetsprimarily are made up of contracts with more than 2,000 energycustomers in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut, twooffices in Massachusetts and a 10-person marketing team.
Anadarko to Build New HQ
Anadarko Petroleum Corp., an independent oil and gas company,announced Wednesday it has purchased 7.5 acres in a Houston suburbin order to build a 32-story, 800,000 square foot headquartersbuilding. The company said it needs to move to accommodate itsgrowth needs. Groundbreaking is expected early next year. Anadarkoplans to move in mid-2002.
Acquisition Gives Pepco Entree to Gas Market
A wholly owned subsidiary of Potomac Electric Power Co. (Pepco)has purchased the assets and operations of a Maryland-based gasretail marketing firm for an undisclosed amount. The transactiongives Pepco through its subsidiary, Pepco Services, the capabilityto offer for the first time natural gas to its commercial,institutional and industrial customers.
Tesoro Boosts Gas Reserves with Purchase
Tesoro E&P Company L.P., a wholly-owned affiliate of TesoroPetroleum Corp., announced earlier this week it purchased a 50%working interest from Sheridan Energy in the Stiles Ranch Fieldnorth of Amarillo, TX.
Dynegy Builds Canadian Midstream,
Dynegy Inc., formerly NGC Corp. has purchased ComptonPetroleum’s Canadian midstream assets, including 78 miles ofpipelines, and the 82 MMcf/d Mazeppa and 15 MMcf/d Gladysprocessing plants in southern Alberta, for C$60 million. The dealalso includes a transportation, processing and revenue sharingagreement whereby Compton is assured processing and transportationcapacity at set rates and is paid a fee for bringing in new wellsand production.
Midcoast Expands Role in Louisiana Market
Mid Louisiana Gas Transmission, a subsidiary of Midcoast EnergyResources, announced last week that it purchased all of the stockin the Creole Gas Pipeline in southern Louisiana from El PasoEnergy for an undisclosed amount.
KN Scraps mc2; Sticks with en-able
KN Energy made a decision to discontinue its mc2 retail energymarketing unit, which was acquired when KN purchased MidCon Corp.earlier this year. KN said mc2’s business strategy clashed withthat of KN Services and en-able, KN’s retail energy marketing andservices joint venture with PacifiCorp.
