Briefs — Eagle LNG

Eagle LNG Partners Jacksonville LLC has received approval from the Department of Energy to export up to 1 million metric tons/year of liquefied natural gas (LNG) worldwide. The small-scale Eagle Maxville LNG facility plans to export to markets in the Caribbean Basin and elsewhere in the region from Jacksonville, FL, in Duval County. With the Eagle Maxville approval, DOE said as of Friday (Sept. 15) it has authorized a total of 21.35 Bcf/d in LNG exports to anywhere in the world not prohibited by U.S. law or policy from existing and planned facilities in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia and Maryland.

Results of Rover Third-Party Review Released; FERC Says HDDs Still on Hold

FERC on Monday released the results of an independent review of the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) fluids spill that has put HDD work for Energy Transfer Partners LP’s Rover Pipeline on hold since May. Commission staff said ETP/Rover would have to submit a plan to implement the third-party recommendations before HDD activities may resume on the project.

The California Department of Conservation (DOC) has scheduled workshops in July to discuss stepped up pipeline and idle oil and gas well safety rules as mandated under state laws AB 1420 and AB 2729. The DOC’s Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources plans to discuss draft regulations on July 13 for small-diameter (4-inch or less) pipelines and mapping/data submission requirements for active gas pipelines. The July 14 workshop would focus on idle wells, plugging/abandonment, testing, remediation and securing of inactive wells.
