BAF Inks CNG Conversion Agreement With Verizon Van Fleet

The practice of running U.S. business fleet vehicles on compressed natural gas (CNG) continues to gain momentum as evidenced by the deals being announced on almost a weekly basis. The latest involves Clean Energy Fuels Corp. subsidiary BAF, which has received an order from Verizon to convert 501 new Ford E-250 Series vans to CNG power.

Michigan Lifts Moratorium On Great Lakes Drilling

Three years after Michigan Gov. John Engler called a temporary moratorium on the practice of vertically drilling from shore to reach oil and gas deposits beneath the Great Lakes, the Michigan Natural Resources Commission has given its “overwhelming support” for the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to approve procedures to resume leasing oil and gas property there. Since the 1970s, 13 oil and gas wells had been dug in the lakes, and seven are still in operation.

Southern California Gas (SoCalGas) has called on FERC to put anend to El Paso Natural Gas’ alleged practice of over-booking firmprimary capacity at the SoCalGas/Topock delivery point inCalifornia. The distributor contends its own firm entitlements atthe delivery point have been cut between 25%-57% on a daily basisbecause of El Paso’s actions, and that it’s costing it nearly$46,000 a day.
