PNM Resources, the parent of Public Service Company of New Mexico, reported higher third quarter earnings on Friday of $27.4 million, or 45 cents/diluted share, compared to net earnings of $16.6 million, or 27 cents/share for the same period last year. Year-to-date (nine-month) earnings per share increased 3.7% to $1.13/diluted share, the holding company said.

Dominion on Tuesday reported that the utility’s operating earnings for the second quarter of 2004 came in at $267 million, or 81 cents per share, beating the consensus analysts’ estimate carried on Wall Street by a penny, but lower than operating earnings of $271 million, or 86 cents per share, for the same period in 2003.

ExxonMobil Corp. turned in yet another glowing performance in the first quarter, with profit of $5.44 billion on revenue of $67.6 billion. Quarterly net income slipped 23%, which the company blamed on one-time gains, but across its oil and gas businesses, the major posted higher profits.

XTO Energy reported record first quarter natural gas production of 771 MMcf/d, a 30% increase from the first quarter of 2003, and earnings for the quarter of $94.1 million, or 40 cents per share, a 42% increase from the same period last year. The company also completed the purchase of 175 Bcfe in Texas and Arkansas gas reserves.

Forest Oil Posts Strong 2003 Earnings on High Oil/Gas Prices
Aided by the combination of higher average oil and natural gas sales prices, higher sales volumes and lower oil and gas production expenses, Forest Oil Corp. posted 2003 net earnings from continuing operations of $90.2 million or $1.82 per basic share and net earnings of $88.4 million or $1.79 per basic share, an increase of over 300% compared to net earnings of $21.3 million or $0.45 per share in 2002.
