The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has updated several maps and data charts for the Utica Shale and Point Pleasant formation, including one map showing the weight of Total Organic Carbon (TOC) that could be used by operators to decide where to drill in the future.

Chesapeake Energy Corp. is selling legacy properties in the Cana Woodford Shale, including the rights to 298 producing wells, “because it does not have the drilling budget to adequately develop the abundant additional opportunities in the area,” according to a sales listing. Ninety-eight percent of the leases are held by production.

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. has drilled and is producing from three wells in the eastern Ohio portion of the Utica Shale, the most recent of which delivered more than 9,500 bbl of crude oil and 12 MMcf of natural gas in the first 20 days online, the producer said Thursday.
