Transportation Notes

Having gotten final FERC approval Wednesday (see Daily GPI, Dec. 29), El Paso said it was placing its Line 1903 Expansion Project in service effective Friday (Dec. 30). The project provides 502 MMcf/d of capacity utilizing the affiliated Mojave Pipeline system and a new lateral interconnecting El Paso’s northern and southern systems. The project also provides El Paso customers access to Rocky Mountain gas supplies via the Kern River interconnect at Daggett, CA. El Paso said it will offer shippers alternate access to markets and supply sources on Mojave “as soon as practical.”

FGT Accused of Frustrating Plans for Bahamas-to-Florida LNG Pipeline

Florida Gas Transmission (FGT), by placing “onerous” conditions on AES Ocean Express LLC in its pursuit of an interconnection with FGT’s system, is frustrating the company’s plans to construct a proposed Bahamas-to-Florida line to deliver regasified liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the southern Florida market, AES Ocean Express said last week.

DTE Energy Expresses Interest in Buying FirstEnergy Ohio Plants

DTE Energy has made a non-binding bid in response to FirstEnergy Corp.’s placing a ‘for sale’ sign in front of four of its predominantly coal-fired power plants in Ohio, after a deal to sell those assets to NRG Energy Inc. collapsed over the summer, a spokesperson for DTE Energy told NGI last Wednesday.
