Increasing Piceance Basin production in Colorado and new takeaway capacity out of the Rockies to Midwestern markets have prompted TransColorado Gas Transmission to test market interest in a 300,000 Dth/d expansion of its system.

Calpine Corp. said Friday it has entered into two agreements to sell its Rocky Mountain natural gas reserves in the Colorado Piceance Basin and New Mexico San Juan Basin for approximately $223 million.

Citing shipper requests, Questar extended the open season for its Piceance to Kanda/Coleman expansion project to a noon MDT deadline on Sept. 19. It previously had planned to end the season last Friday (see Daily GPI, Aug. 13). Because of interest in moving more natural gas from the prolificPiceance Basin in northwest Colorado to interconnects withNorthwest Pipeline Co. in Rio Blanco County, CO, and QuestarPipeline Co. in Utah, Colorado Interstate Gas has begun an openseason to solicit support for expanding its Parachute CreekLateral.

Coastal Corp. subsidiary Coastal Oil &amp Gas bought oil and gasassets of Conoco in the Uintah Basin of northeastern Utah and thePiceance Basin of western Colorado. The properties are in two ofthe most prolific gas basins in the Rocky Mountains. Provedreserves are estimated at 500 Bcfe, about 95% gas.
