Tennessee declared a force majeure event Friday for Compressor Station 249 in Carlisle, NY, due to the necessity of performing emergency repairs to the foundation supporting the frame of Unit 1A. If left unrepaired, this issue could result in a loss of mechanical integrity of the unit and/or a major failure resulting in an extended outage, Tennessee said. It expected to complete the repairs in seven days. Tennessee anticipates potential restrictions through a pro rata portion of Secondary in the Path nominations through Station 249 and said additional constraints may become necessary.

As previously posted (see Daily GPI, Aug. 13), Southern Natural Gas has been performing inspections on the 26-inch diameter line downstream of Gate 6 (where a rupture occurred recently in a 20-inch diameter line) and installing an interim solution at Gate 6 to allow Main Pass area volumes to flow into the 26-inch line. The interim solution at Gate 6 and the anomaly inspection on the 26-inch line have been completed, Southern said, and effective with the Intraday 2 nominations cycle Tuesday and until further notice it is allowing about 650,000 Dth/d to flow into the 26-inch line. See the bulletin board for a list of affected points.

Noting that it began performing anomaly investigations between the Pleasant View and La Plata B compressor stations Friday, Northwest said Primary firm nomination requests flowing south through Pleasant View compressor station were exceeding the available capacity of 318,000 Dth/d. Therefore, the pipeline said, a Declared Deficiency Period will be in effect for all days except Sundays through the work’s expected completion Sept. 7. Based on Pleasant View’s design capacity of 352,446 Dth/d, the Daily Deficiency Volume is 34,446 Dth/d, Northwest said. The full design capacity will be available on all Sundays.

Florida Gas Transmission said Friday it is performing unscheduled maintenance on one of the two units at Compressor Station #3 in Port Lavaca, TX. The outage is expected to last through Sept. 15. During this work FGT will schedule up to about 160,000 MMBtu/d through the station. During normal operations it schedules up to 230,000 MMBtu/d. The reduction took effect Saturday.

From Thursday through Monday Iroquois will be performing unscheduled maintenance at the Dover station, during which the compressor unit will be out of service. The pipeline said it will make repairs to the exhaust duct and corresponding modifications at the manufacturer’s request to obtain greater reliability for the unit. No due-shipper imbalance gas will be available south of Athens, Iroquois said, but the work should not impact firm transportation.

Gulf South declared force majeure as it began performing unscheduled maintenance Thursday on its Index 129 segment south of Edna Compressor Station in Jackson County, TX. The work affects its ability to provide service at 17 area meters, Gulf South said. At first the pipeline expected to finish the maintenance by Saturday, but in a later update it revised the estimated completion to the start of Sunday’s gas day.

Transportation Notes

Florida Gas Transmission said Friday it is performing unscheduled maintenance on one of the three compressor units at its Sabine Pass (LA) interconnect with Transco. Starting with the Timely Cycle for Saturday’s gas day, FGT planned to reduce the interconnect capacity to 100,000 MMBtu/d. Current estimates indicate that the unit will be down for about two weeks. The pipeline also informed customers that operational capacity at its ANR interconnect in St. Landry Parish, LA was increased Friday from 125,000 Dth/d to 138,000 Dth/d until further notice. The capacity had been cut from its normal 250,000 MMBtu/d in mid-July due to reduced deliveries from ANR (see Daily GPI, July 16). An Overage Alert Day notice on FGT continued through at least Friday at 25% tolerance for negative imbalances.

Transportation Notes

Gulf South began performing scheduled maintenance Monday on Unit #1 at its Clarence (LA) Compressor Station. The project, which will last through Aug. 18, could reduce capacity on Index 129 (West 30-inch line) by an additional 50 MMcf/d to a total of 125 MMcf/d. The first potential reduction of 75 MMcf/d comes from ongoing work at the Goodrich (TX) Compressor Station (see Daily GPI, July 10 ). In addition, unscheduled maintenance was initiated Monday on Index 391 (20-inch line from Longview to Carthage in East Texas). The maintenance will continue until further notice and requires Gulf South to operate at a lower than normal operating pressure, but no service interruptions are expected.
