The cash market was moderately softer for the most part Thursday, although quite a few points, primarily in the Northeast and Gulf Coast, turned in flat showings. Most losses were in single digits; those of a dime or more were concentrated in the West and Midcontinent, led by intra-Alberta’s drop of about C25 cents.

Patches of Higher, Lower Prices Seen in Mostly Flat Market
Much of the cash market was essentially flat Monday, although Transco Zone 6-NYC and several Western Canada/Pacific Northwest points saw sizeable declines, while Rockies/San Juan numbers were up anywhere from a dime to about 30 cents. Otherwise it was rare for any point to vary more than 2-3 cents up or down from flat.
Weekend Prices Advance Except in OFO-Shy West
Cash traders in markets outside the West, taking encouragementfrom patches of cold weather (both existing and predicted) and ascreen that briefly tested the waters above $3 Friday morning,pushed weekend prices higher by about a nickel in the Gulf Coastand Midcontinent/Midwest to more than a dime in the Northeast.
