Tennessee, CNG Team to Serve East
El Paso Energy’s Tennessee Gas Pipeline and Consolidated NaturalGas’ CNG Transmission jointly unveiled the Atlantic AllianceProject on Monday. If successful, this project will transport up to750,000 Dth/d from Chicago market center and the Niagara ImportPoint into eastern markets.

El Paso found unexpected damage in its inspection of the WhiteRock No. 2 turbine. The unit remained down through Friday, cuttingSan Juan Basin capacity by 200 MMcf/d. The pipeline expected tocomplete repairs by late Friday afternoon, but said because itcould not raise San Juan capacity until the unit could be tested,the constraint would remain in effect for Cycles 1 and 2 ofSaturday’s gas day.

El Paso will have the “B” Plant at Williams (AZ) Station downfor maintenance June 21-23, reduing North Mainline capacity in SanJuan Basin by 100 MMcf/d. From June 28 through July 7, individualWilliams “B” compressors will be off-line, cutting North Mainlinecapacity by 25 MMcf/d June 28-July 2 and by 40 MMcf/d July 3-7.

El Paso’s planned maintenance at Alamo Lake Station was expandedto include a total station shutdown Wednesday. Alamo Lake No.1turbine will be down today and Tuesday, reducing Havasu Crossovercapacity by 100 MMcf/d. The No.2 turbine will also be downWednesday for a total Havasu cut of 150 MMcf/d. To coincide withthis outage and minimize impact on San Juan Basin supplies, theNavajo Station’s 2C turbine will be down for maintenance Wednesday,reducing North Mainline capacity by 155 MMcf/d.

El Paso will shut down its Blanco (NM) Plant Monday forscheduled maintenance. Several other facilities on the San JuanCrossover and North Mainline also will have maintenance. Because atotal Blanco outage will last only half a day, the net reduction ofSan Juan Basin supply Monday will be 715 MMcf/d. Downtime of the Cand D units May 18-19 and of the D unit May 20-26 will causereductions of 500 MMcf/d and 270 MMcf/d respectively.

El Paso estimates one of the two compressor units at its Caprock(NM) Station will return to service by April 16, raising San JuanCrossover capacity to 600 MMcf/d from its current 580 MMcf/d. Itappears the other unit will remain unavailable until mid-May, thepipeline said.

El Paso said Friday its Waha (TX) GE turbine is off-line againdue to a failed coupling on the field gas compressor. If expeditedtemporary repairs over the weekend prove successful, the pipelinesaid, the unit is expected to return to service around Wednesday.Otherwise, a new coupling will be available around April 6; anothershutdown would be required for its installation. The IMLWAHA pointis limited to 65 MMcf/d during the outage.

Tennessee Plans New Tetco Connect
El Paso Energy’s Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGP) plans a newinterconnect in Casey County, KY, to deliver an additional 200MMcf/d of gas into Texas Eastern Transmission (Tetco) to servemarkets in parts of Kentucky and southern Ohio. The interconnect isexpected to be in service by Nov. 1. Tennessee plans to acceptnominations at the new point for November 1998 gas flow.
