NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. (NGTL), a unit of TransCanada Corp., and ATCO Pipelines will hold meetings Feb. 28 in Edmonton and March 1 in Calgary to update customers on the ATCO/NGTL integration initiative. In September 2008 the companies said they had reached an agreement to provide seamless gas transmission service in Alberta (see Daily GPI, Sept. 10, 2008). The meetings are intended to provide an update on the initiative’s progress; review NGTL service and attributes; review ATCO/NGTL contract administration, transition and election requirements; and address shipper questions or concerns. Sable Island Repair to Take Days, Not Weeks

A disabled water pump was the cause of the shut-in of natural gas production from the Sable Island Field offshore Nova Scotia early Tuesday morning, a spokesman for operator ExxonMobil told NGI Wednesday.

Transportation Notes

Due to unplanned maintenance on the 20-inch diameter Peace River Mainline, NOVA said it was taking all meter stations in the Upper Peace River Mainline Area to zero at noon MST last Friday until further notice. The work is expected to be completed by Dec. 8.

TransCanada Teams With ATCO Pipelines to Better Serve Alberta

Canadian Utilities’ ATCO Pipelines subsidiary and TransCanada Corp.’s NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. (NGTL) unit said Monday they have reached an agreement to provide seamless natural gas transmission service to customers in Alberta. The gas transmission model will utilize a single suite of services to provide integrated gas transmission service, which the companies expect to add value for customers as a result of seamless efficient service throughout the province.

Maritimes & Northeast U.S. (M&N) said Tuesday night it had learned that the Sable Offshore Energy Inc. production facility offshore Nova Scotia experienced a decrease in production during the April 29 gas day. However, on Wednesday morning M&N reported that output at the Sable facility had returned to normal levels and it lifted an associated restriction on imbalances.

Moderating Weather Pulls Nearly All Points Down

With many areas in transition toward milder temperatures again, flat Dawn and NOVA Inventory Transfer quotes were the only exception to falling cash prices Thursday. The previous day’s 27.6-cent drop by expiring March futures added to the bearish mood.

To encourage shippers to run positive imbalances because of dwindling linepack during an especially severe cold snap in Western Canada, NOVA has reset its imbalance tolerance range to 0/+4.

Transportation Notes

NOVA said late Monday it would declare force majeure due to a line leak on the 20-inch diameter Marten Hills Lateral (see Daily GPI, April 24). The line has been isolated, and typical flows of about 33.7 MMcf/d at three affected meter stations have been halted, the pipeline added. It projects that repairs will be completed Saturday, and pending further investigation, the service restriction will be lifted at that time.
