Southeast Supply Header Receives FERC PD

FERC issued a preliminary determination on nonenvironmental issues May 17 for the Southeast Supply Header project, a 270-mile pipeline running from the Perryville Hub to a connection Near Mobile County, AL, with Gulfstream Natural Gas, sponsored in part by Southern Natural Gas, subsidiaries of Centerpoint Energy and Spectra Energy. On the same day the Commission had authorized an expansion of Centerpoint’s connecting pipeline project, the Carthage-Perryville Line CP (see separate story).

FERC Gives Initial Nod to REX-West Leg of Rockies Express Line

With one commissioner calling it the “king of pipelines,” FERC last Thursday issued a favorable preliminary determination (PD) on nonenvironmental issues for the second leg of Rockies Express Pipeline LLC’s proposed $4 billion 1,663-mile mega-pipeline project that would transport Rocky Mountain natural gas to Midwest and Northeast markets.

Two Gas Storage Projects Get FERC Approval

Two natural gas storage projects received favorable rulings from FERC last Wednesday. Aquila affiliate Red Lake Gas Storage LP received preliminary approval on nonenvironmental grounds for construction of a salt cavern natural gas storage facility in Mohave County, AZ, with 12 Bcf of working gas capacity and 900,000 Dth/d of maximum deliverability. FERC also awarded a limited jurisdiction blanket certificate to Saltville Storage Co. LLC, which is building a salt cavern in southwestern Virginia.
