Cheniere Gulf Coast LNG Projects Clear Final Environmental Hurdle
FERC is cranking out its reviews of liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects at a fast clip. The agency on Friday gave final environmental nods to two Cheniere Energy Inc. LNG terminal projects and associated pipeline facilities along the Gulf Coast, after issuing favorable final environmental reviews for three LNG projects just a week ago — Dominion Cove Point LP’s proposed terminal expansion in Maryland, BP Energy affiliate Crown Landing LLC’s terminal project in New Jersey and Sempra Energy’s terminal project in Port Arthur, TX (see Daily GPI, May 1).

FERC Gives Nods to Pipe, LNG and Storage Projects to Serve Southeast
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission last week handed out certificates for a pipeline expansion in the Mid-Atlantic region and a new Gulf Coast storage project, and issued a preliminary determination (PD) on non-environmental grounds for an expansion at El Paso’s Elba Island liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Georgia. All of the projects are designed to serve growing gas demand, primarily from gas-fired power generation, in the Southeast region.

Transco, Northern Natural Projects Get FERC Nods
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission did not overlook Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line and Northern Natural Gas when it was doling out the numerous project certificates and preliminary determinations (PD) on non-environmental issues Wednesday. The agency awarded Transco a PD for a looping and lateral project in New Jersey to serve local distribution and generation load, while it handed Northern Natural a certificate to proceed with construction in Nebraska to alleviate constraints on its system.
