Cardinal Gas Storage Partners subsidiary Perryville Gas Storage LLC has applied to FERC for a certificate of public convenience and necessity to construct, own and operate a new salt dome natural gas storage facility and related facilities in the Crowville Salt Dome in Franklin and Richland parishes, LA. The facility will provide a total of approximately 15 Bcf of working capacity in two caverns. Plans call for interconnections with CenterPoint Energy Gas Transmission and Columbia Gulf Transmission near Delhi, LA. The company also requested FERC approval to provide firm and interruptible storage services and interruptible hub services from the facility. Assuming FERC authorization by Dec. 1, Perryville said construction could begin in early 2010.

Going two for two recently at FERC, Boardwalk Pipeline Partners LP said it has received certificates of public convenience and necessity to construct its Gulf Crossing Pipeline project and the Fayetteville and Greenville Laterals. The projects are expected to provide an outlet for significant volumes of new gas production from the Barnett Shale, Caney Woodford Shale and other production areas in Texas and southeast Oklahoma.

Tennessee declared a force majeure event Friday for Compressor Station 249 in Carlisle, NY, due to the necessity of performing emergency repairs to the foundation supporting the frame of Unit 1A. If left unrepaired, this issue could result in a loss of mechanical integrity of the unit and/or a major failure resulting in an extended outage, Tennessee said. It expected to complete the repairs in seven days. Tennessee anticipates potential restrictions through a pro rata portion of Secondary in the Path nominations through Station 249 and said additional constraints may become necessary.
